Most agencies will sell you traffic. The problem is, traffic into a leaking funnel just makes the leak louder. Before we touch a single ad, we audit the three places Canadian SMEs are quietly losing the visitors they already paid for.

Leak #1 — The category-page speed gap

Your homepage is probably fast. Your category and service pages are almost certainly not. Why? Because the homepage gets all the design attention, and everything downstream inherits whichever heavy components made the homepage look good — sliders, embedded video, image carousels — without anyone asking whether that download cost is buying conversion on the deeper page.

The fix is usually obvious once you measure it: strip the carousel on service pages, replace embedded video with a poster image that loads the player on click, lazy-load anything below the fold. On a recent build we cut LCP on the second-most-visited page from 4.1s to 1.4s — and saw a 22% lift in form starts on that page within three weeks.

If your second-most-visited page loads slower than your homepage, you have a leak. Not a “nice to fix later” leak — a “this is costing money this week” leak.

Leak #2 — The unqualifying CTA

“Contact us” is not a call to action. It’s a request for free labor. The visitor has to decide what they want to say, what they’re allowed to ask for, and whether they’re “ready enough” to take up your time. Most aren’t, so they bounce.

The fix isn’t longer copy — it’s making the next step concrete and qualifying. Compare:

  • Bad: “Contact us to learn more”
  • Better: “Book a 30-min strategy call”
  • Best: “Get a free funnel audit (we’ll send a 4-page Loom video within 5 business days)”

The third version qualifies on intent — only people who actually want a funnel audit click — and it pre-commits you to a real deliverable, which builds trust before the call. Conversion rate on the page roughly doubles, and the leads who book are 3–4x more likely to close.

Leak #3 — The post-booking silence

A lead submits your form. They get a generic “Thanks, we’ll be in touch” page. Then nothing happens for 18 hours until your VA forwards it to your inbox. By then, the lead has emotionally moved on — and possibly already booked a call with one of your competitors.

What should happen in that 18-hour gap:

  • Instant calendar link sent via email (use a booking tool that auto-confirms)
  • A short personalized note from a human within 3 business hours, even if it’s just “Got your form, will send a thoughtful reply by EOD”
  • A second touch the next morning with one specific insight from their submission — proof you actually read it

This is the cheapest leak to fix and the one most teams ignore because it’s “ops, not marketing.” It’s both.

The diagnostic

If you’re not sure where your leak is, here’s the 20-minute version. Pull your last 90 days of analytics. Look at:

  1. Bounce rate on your second-most-visited page (speed leak)
  2. Conversion rate from page-view to form-start on your highest-traffic service page (CTA leak)
  3. Time from form-submission to first human reply over your last 10 leads (silence leak)

You’ll know within 20 minutes which one is bleeding hardest. Fix that first.

Want us to run the diagnostic on your funnel? Book a 30-min strategy call — we’ll show you the leak and a fix on the same call.
